Instruction for Authors                                                                                                    
Military Caring Sciences is a quarterly open-access peer-reviewed journal that accepts manuscripts in Persian and English abstracts via an online submission system that is available at http://www.mcs.ajaums.ac.ir;  Submitted papers will be reviewed at least three peer reviewers for scientific and plagiarism issues. We welcome scholarly contributions that advance the understanding and practice of caring within military contexts and critical situations. Submissions may explore topics such as holistic care, moral injury, trauma-informed practices, military nursing, military medicine, military hygiene, ethics, military family support, leadership and management in crisis situation, disaster, and interprofessional collaboration. All manuscripts must align with the journal’s mission to promote compassionate, evidence-based care for military personnel, veterans, and their communities.

1. Manuscript Types

We accept the following types of submissions:

Original Research Articles (up to 4,000 words)

Theoretical or Conceptual Papers (up to 4,000 words)

Literature Reviews (up to 6,000 words)

Case Reports (up to 2,000 words)

Short articles (up to 2000 words)


Word count does not include abstract, references, and tables/figures.


2. Formatting Requirements

  • File Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  • Font: B Nazanin for Persian text and Times New Roman for English text, 12-point size and 14-point size for the headings.
  • Spacing: Double-spaced, with 1-inch margins.
  • Structure:
  • Cover letter
  • Title page (with full author names, affiliations, and contact details)
  • Abstract (up to 300 words)
  • Keywords (3–6)
  • Full text
  • References (Vancouver style)
  • Tables and Figures (with titles and legends, placed at the end of the document or uploaded separately)


Cover Letter
The cover letter should be submitted electronically during the online submission process.
All authors should declare that the manuscript has not been and will not be published elsewhere or submitted elsewhere for publication.
The authors should declare the ethical consideration and the order of authors and their affiliation should be mentioned in the cover letter.
All authors should collaborate in the study, and all read and approve the final manuscript and sign it.

Title Page
The title page consists of the following information:
1. Main title of the paper
2. Running title with a maximum of 40 character
3. Author/s full name/s in the correct order and full affiliation with an academic degree.
The academic degrees include Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor.
The affiliation consists of the Name of the Department, the Name of the University, City, and Country.
The last item on the title page is the information of the corresponding author which consists of Full name, Affiliation, Postal Code, Phone Number, and Email address.

Abstract and Keywords
The English and Persian abstracts should be structured and written up to 300 words and the sections for original articles are Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusions. The English keyword should exactly match the Persian abstract.
Keywords consist of 3-6 keywords that should be found from MeSH (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh)

Full Manuscript Text
The full text should be prepared in Persian language. Units and symbols should be used in the standard international form and the abbreviations should be used in expanded form for the first appearance in the text and the abbreviated form may be used for the second appearance. The authors should not use an expanded form of abbreviation as a footnote and should put it in a parenthesis. The generic name of the drugs should be used.
The full text of the paper should be split into the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, and Conclusions.
Introduction: The importance of the issue, reasoning, and necessity of study should be stated here.
Objective: The objective of the study should be mentioned.
Materials and Methods: Design of the study, setting and the time of the study, sample size, sampling method, inclusion and exclusion criteria, data gathering methods, instruments, validity and reliability of instruments, ethical consideration, software and statistical analysis should be written in this section. For review articles, type of study, used keywords and literatures should be mentioned in this part.
Results: The results should be written in format of tables, figures and diagrams without discussion.
  • The information that is presented in tables should not be duplicated in text.
  • All diagrams and tables should be written in Persian and diagrams should be drawn only in two dimensions.
  • The number on tables and figures should not exceed from six.
  • The title of the figures should be state ate the bottom of the figure and the table title should be state at the top of the table.
  • The figures should be uploaded separately in TIFF, PNG, JPEG, JPG, PSD or PDF and the minimum acceptable resolution for figure are 300 dpi. All the figures should be original and this originality should be mentioned by authors in Cover Letter.

Discussion and Conclusion: This section should be focused on key findings of the study and the similarity of the study with other studies should be compared in this section. Also authors are recommended to mention on new and important aspects of study. The limitations and recommendations for future studies should be written at the end of the paper.
References: The references should be written in numerical format and the bibliography of the references should be written at the end of text according to order of appearance of the references. The numbers should be written in parenthesis in text. The Vancouver style should be used for bibliography. All the references should be written in English and Persian literatures should be translated from www.sid.ir. For references with more than 6 authors, please list the 6 first authors and then write et al.
Books
Author(s) – Family name and initials, Multiple authors separated by a comma. Title of book. Edition of book if later than 1st ed. Place of Publication: Publisher Name; Year of Publication.
Example: Burns N, Grove SK. The practice of nursing research: Appraisal, synthesis, and generation of evidence. 6th ed. St Louis, MO: Saunders Elsevier; 2009.
Chapter in a book
Example:  Read JL. The new era of quality of life assessment. In: Walker SR, Rosser RM, et al. Quality of life assessment. Key lssues in the 1990s, The Nether lands: Kluwer Academic Publishers, 1993; P:3-10.
Journal Articles
Author(s) – Family name and initials. Title of article. Title of journal – abbreviated Publication year; volume (issue): pages

Conference Proceedings

Author- Family name and initials. Thesis Title, Publish Location: University Name: Year.
Example: Farsi Z. [The process of coping in adults with leukemia undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation]. Ph.D Dissertation. Tehran: Tehran University of Medical Sciences; 2011.

3. Declarations
Acknowledgments: The authors may thank the individual, organizations, grants, corporations and any other source. All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed in this section. If the paper is a result of a thesis/dissertation, the thesis/dissertation information should be written here.
Conflict of interests: Authors should state all financial and personal relationships that could be viewed as presenting a potential conflict of interest.
Funding supports: Authors are required to specify the source of funding for their research when submitting a paper.

4. Ethical approval of research
Military Caring Sciences’ policy is to ensure that all articles published by this journal report on work that is morally acceptable, and expects authors to follow the World Medical Association's Declaration of Helsinki.
It is essential to have the original studies approved by an accredited ethics committee and to have an ethics ID.
All research involving human participants must include documentation of ethical approval.
Informed consent should be clearly stated in the methodology.
Authors must follow the Ethical Publishing Policy of MCS and disclose all potential conflicts of interest.
We already ask peer reviewers to consider and comment on the ethics of submitted work.

5. Publication Ethics
This journal is committed to meeting and upholding standards of ethical behavior at all stages of the publication process. We follow closely the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) that set standards and provide guidelines for best practices in order to meet these requirements.

6. Publication fee:  Article submissions do not charge a publication fee. All processes are free and no article processing charges (APCs) apply.

7. Submission and Peer Review
Manuscripts should be submitted via Military Caring Sciences online submission portal https://mcs.ajaums.ac.ir/page/21/Submission-Instruction.
Submissions undergo double-blind peer review.
Authors should avoid including identifying information in the manuscript file.
Reviews typically take 2–6 weeks.

8. Author Responsibilities
Each author must approve the submitted version.
Contributions must be original and unpublished elsewhere.
Plagiarism, data fabrication, or unethical practices will result in rejection or retraction.

9. Post-Acceptance
Upon acceptance, authors will receive proofs for review.
Authors are requested to cooperate with the editorial team at all stages until the final publication of the articles.
MCS publishes open access to maximize impact and accessibility.
