Therefore, the present study has been performed to investigate the effect of priming with recirculation of normal saline method on urea reduction ratio among hemodialysis patients Material and Methods: This is a randomized clinical trial study that was performed in 522 Military Hospital in Tabriz, Iran in November 2014. A total of 44 hemodialysis patients were recruited by convenience sampling method and randomly divided in two groups. The dialysis machine, in intervention group, with the method of priming with recirculation of normal saline for a month and in the control group the routine method was primed. Before and after intervention, blood sampling was determined to calculate the blood urea nitrogen and urea reduction ratio. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 20 statistical software. Results: The mean and standard deviation of URR was respectively 58.45±6.23 and 69.04 ± 6.24 before and after the intervention in the intervention group which showed a significant increase after the intervention (P<0.001). The mean and standard deviation of URR was respectively 58.27±11.38 and 59.22±7.59 before and after the intervention in the control group there was no significant differences compared to before the intervention (P=0.753). Discussion and Conclusion: The study results showed that can be used from the method primed with saline recirculation dialysis method to increase the urea reduction ratio and with a proper dialysis prevented from many of the complications and with preventing readmission, while saving the cost of health care, providing a better quality of life for these patients.
