Abstract:   (2832 Views)
Introduction: Personality traits of university lecturers play an effective role in the reduction of academic achievement and enhancement of learning efficiency. Moreover, personality traits of university lecturers can be used to predict changes in their teaching styles.
Objectives: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between personality traits and quality of teaching among the faculty members of the AJA University of medical sciences.
Material and Methods: The present study is practical in terms of objectives and a correlational descriptive study in terms of methodology. The statistical population includes all the students of the AJA University of Medical Sciences during the academic year of 2017-2018(a total of 974 students). Using Krejcie and Morgan's sample size determination table, a total of 175 samples were selected through stratified sampling. The teaching professional ethics questionnaire designed  by Najafi et al. (2011) and Teaching Quality Scale by Seraj (2000) were used as data collection tools. Data analysis was performed using Pearson’s correlation test using SPSS 19.
Results: The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between personality traits and teaching quality of university lecturers (P <0.01). That is, the higher level of personality traits among university lecturers leads to higher quality of their teaching. The correlation between these two variables is equal to 0.398 which is considered significant (P <0.01).
Discussion & Conclusion: Considering the positive and significant relationship between "personality traits" and "professional ethics" variables, paying attention to the personality traits of faculty can be one of the main indicators and strategies for improving the quality of teaching quality in AJA medical university.
