Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic is the most significant outbreak of a virulent coronavirus in the 21st century.
Objective: This study aimed to explore the structural relationships predicting COVID-19 Stress through experiential avoidance, mediated by Mental Strength, among Physical Education students.
Materials and Methods: A descriptive study was conducted on all physical education students at Mohaghegh Ardabili University in 2021. A sample of 170 individuals was chosen using convenience sampling and assessed using COVID-19 stress, mental strength, and experiential avoidance questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling with smart pls3 software.
Results: Findings indicated that mental strength and experiential avoidance directly and significantly influence COVID-19 stress, with experiential voidance showing an indirect effect mediated by mental strength.
Conclusion: The study suggests that to mitigate the adverse impact of experiential avoidance and enhance the positive influence of mental strength on individuals’ health, health psychologists should incorporate training on managing emotional responses to the coronavirus into their programs
