Stroke is a sudden and unfortunate event that places a heavy care burden on individuals, families, and society. As the aging population grows and the number of underlying diseases in the elderly rises, the risk of experiencing this condition is also increasing. Chronic illnesses, because of their disabling effects, can impact every facet of a person’s life. Numerous stroke survivors are left managing at least one lasting issue from the stroke, and they are sent home from hospitals with this complication. At home, care will vary and will rely more on individual capabilities. Thus, the capacity to self-care is affected by numerous factors and can differ among individuals. This policy brief outlines strategies and solutions to enhance the well-being of elderly stroke patients.
