Abstract:   (74 Views)
Introduction: Caregivers of patients with psychiatric disorders play an important role in the treatment and follow-up process of these patients.
Objective: This study aimed toinvestigate the correlation between stigma and care burden and self-efficacy in family caregivers of patients with psychiatric
disorders.
Materials and Methods: The present descriptive-correlational study was performed from January 2021 to May 2022 in Ghods Educational-Medical Center of Sanandaj among300 caregivers of patients with psychiatric disorders. Individuals were selected according to the inclusion criteria and by available sampling method. Data collection tools were standard stigma questionnaires for mentally ill patients, Novak and Gost care burden and Scherer’s general self-efficacy. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 23 and descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation coefficient at the significant level of less than 0.05.
Results: There was a statistically significant relationship between all dimensions of care burden (except evolutionary care pressure and social care pressure) and total care burden (p <0.001) with stigma. Also, no correlation was found between stigma and self-efficacy variable.
Conclusion: Considering the relationship between family caregivers’ attitudes and the amount of care burden in caregivers of patients with psychiatric disorders, it is suggested to hold training workshops for caregivers and also to pay attention to the importance of positive attitudes in mass media.
