The role of nurse in adaptation of veterans with amputee

Introduction: Any deficiency in the body not only is a physical injury, but also redound social and psycho-emotional damage and can also influence various aspects of life. A practical and effective models in nursing which focuses specifically on the issue of adaptation, is the Roy’s Adaptation model... The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of nurses and the usage of nursing models in particular the Roy’s adaptation model on the care of veterans with amputee that look for better adaptation.

Material and Method: This study is a review article based on the information, which is published in the internet, journals and associated researches in 2000- 2014.

Result: The Roy’s Adaptation Model is a useful framework for providing nursing care to patients in the acute, chronic and terminal phase of disease. The results of most studies indicate improvement in nursing activities, focusing, organizing and directing of thoughts and actions of nurses in the care of chronic patients and increasing of adaptive responses in these patients. In this article have been cited to some of these studies.

Discussion & Conclusion: The Roy’s Adaptation Model is focused on improving of adaptation, health and quality of life of patients. The results of more studies indicate that the Roy’s Adaptation Model can be the appropriate framework for the survey, care and intervention and finally chronic disease management and Increasing of adaptation in patients and different groups of veterans.
