Introduction: Nurses are at risk for low back pain. This paper aims to determine the prevalence of spinal pain and related Factors in nurses AJA hospitals in Tehran.
Materials and Methods: This study was cross-sectional and multi-stage random sampling research on 420 nurses AJA Hospitals, located in 6 hospitals in Tehran. International Nordic questionnaire was used with 21 SPSS software and descriptive statistics.
Results: 56.4% had secondary job, and 77.9%, nearly a year after starting nursing, had been experiencing back pain. 87.9% nurses with back pain due to lifting heavy objects or pushing, pulling and moving patients and equipment. Pain in the upper spine (neck and shoulder) between samples 50.7% and the prevalence of pain in the lower spine (lumbar) in the Women was 92.1%.because of this pain 65%nurses were decreased their jobs activity.88.6%had changed in life style. Based on body mass index (BMI) was determined 77.4% of obese nurses had spinal pain. But there was no significant difference between BMI index andspinal pain. There was a significant statistical relationship between pain and age (p= 0/01) , pain and sex (p =0/02) , pain and kind of wards (p =0/02) , pain and marital status (p =0/00) and pain and work experience (p= 0/01). Discussion and conclusions: The prevalence of LBP among nurses is high and is necessary for proper planning to reduce pain, to organize training and supplying facilities to reduce workload for nurses. |
