Introduction: One of the major challenges among healthcare providers-particularly nurses-is enhancing satisfaction with training, especially in the context of biological incidents. Given the rapid and widespread transmission potential of biological agents, there is a critical need for targeted and appropriate educational strategies in this area.
Objective: The present study aimed to compare the effects of bioterrorism response training delivered through the escape room and flipped classroom methods on the satisfaction levels of nurses working in a selected hospital in Tehran.
Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted in 2024 on 70 nurses working in the emergency department, ICU, and CCU of a selected military hospital in Tehran. Participants were selected using a convenience sampling method and were randomly assigned, via simple randomization (coin toss), into two intervention groups (35 participants in each group). Each group was further divided into five subgroups of seven participants (a total of 10 subgroups). Bioterrorism-related educational content was equally provided to both groups over two consecutive days via an online platform. The intervention in the escape room group was implemented through a series of themed stations aligned with the educational content. In the flipped classroom group, participants presented assigned topics to their peers and instructors based on materials provided by the researcher. The effectiveness of the training was evaluated using a training satisfaction questionnaire following the intervention. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 24 at a significance level of P< 0.05.
Results: The findings indicated that satisfaction levels were high in the escape room group and moderate in the flipped classroom group. A statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups in terms of educational satisfaction (P<0.001). Discussion and
Conclusion: Given the higher level of satisfaction associated with the escape room method in bioterrorism response training, healthcare professionals may consider this approach as an effective strategy to enhance the quality of nursing education in hospital settings.
