Abstract:   (14 Views)
Introduction: Resilience is one of the key factors in maintaining the mental health of nursing students, who encounter various stressors in both educational and clinical settings. Acquiring coping skills plays an important role in stress management and enhancing students’ resilience.
Objective: The present study aimed to determine the relationship between coping skills, stress, and resilience among nursing students.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was conducted among 250 nursing students from Neyshabur University of Medical Sciences and Islamic Azad University of Neyshabur between May and November 2024 using a simple random sampling method. Resilience was considered the dependent variable, while coping skills and stress management were regarded as independent variables. Data collection tools included the Lazarus and Folkman Coping Skills Questionnaire, the Gadzella Stress Inventory, and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Pearson correlation and regression analyses were performed using SPSS version 21. A significance level of P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: The findings showed that the mean resilience score of the students was high (72±12.13), while their stress level was moderate (150.75±33.15). Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between coping skills and resilience (r=0.60), and a significant negative relationship between stress and resilience (r=−0.45). Analysis of variance demonstrated that students with higher resilience scores experienced lower levels of stress.
Conclusion: Coping skills and stress management can have a substantial impact on the resilience of nursing students. Therefore, incorporating the development of these skills into nursing curricula should be given greater attention.
